Example of Consultation Follow Up Email to Family

Good afternoon Maxine,

Thank you once again for your time and candid conversation today! I have below a re-cap of our discussion, as well as support recommendations moving forward. PLEASE REPLY and we will start the program to help Eli experience greater success in school.

EDUCATION CONSULTATION SUMMARY

=================================

General info:

  • Eli Hart, 11th grade, 16yo student attending Wilson High School

  • Hobbies & interests include outdoors / hiking / skiing, anything related to history, and potential geology career interests

  • Eli is identified as an intelligent and grounded student who is struggling with managing his academic workload successfully. Maxine (mom) shares he has a hard time focusing on a task to completion (easily distracted with other high interest activities), with prioritization of tasks, low intrinsic motivation, and self-starting behaviors at a deficit

  • Maxine further shares that Eli is generally an A / B student, but has struggled with online / E-learning and finds himself far behind and unable to get caught / pass his classes

  • Eli would benefit from a tutor to work with him to put an organizational plan in place that is measurable, achievable, and will move the marker forward towards greater work completion, turn-in across many core-content areas, with subject focus to include biology, AP Physics, and AP English

  • Maxine also shares that she wants support from the tutor in managing Eli's E-learning platform / Canvas for coursework management and work turn-in, as well as potentially have the tutor engage with Eli's teachers so that all parties are on the same page in their wraparound support for Eli's success

Education Consultant program recommendations to meet student goals:

  • Pacing, frequency, session duration: 2-4 x 45-90+ min sessions weekly, 2.25 to 6hrs / wk

  • Tutoring program: Ongoing support to flex with progress towards goals & tutoring need - support through the current term + options for 2nd semester support

Tutor preferences, schedule, tutoring modality:

  • Engaging, firm but fair tutoring style / approach

  • No tutor gender preference

  • Schedule: Weekdays after school (1pm on; Wednesdays open; weekends possible / flex to Eli's part-time work schedule)

  • Tutoring location: E-tutoring / 1:1 Live Online tutoring modality

Initial focus of tutoring (2 tutors ok):

  • AP English

  • AP Physics

  • Biology

  • Study-skill support / work turn-in / management
