Configuring your email in BANG - Using Rackspace
- To access the email configuration settings, hover over the gear icon and select Settings.
- Scroll down to the Email Settings section, and click the Settings button.
- Click the Mail Accounts tab.
- Begin by setting up the Outgoing SMTP Mail Servers - This setting will connect BANG to your email provider/email account. Once an email account is connected it can be used to send emails from the system. Click the ADD button.
- For the purpose of this example, we will go through how to integrate the email server that most franchisees are currently using, Rackspace. Make sure you have Other tab selected.
- In the Name field, enter what you would like to email account that you are integrating.
- In the “From Name” field, enter the name that you would like your outgoing emails to be sent from. For example, Tutor Doctor Home Office.
- In the “From” Address, enter the email address that you would like your outgoing email to be sent from. This will be the same as the email address being configured.
- To complete the rest of this form we will have to access the email server Support Center. Go to https://help.emailsrvr.com/:
- Click Set Up Email.
- Click Other.
- Scroll down to the Outgoing Servers table:
- Copy the SMTP Server (SSL) Server Address.
- Enter this address in the SMTP Server field.
- Verify that the SMTP Port matches the one on the emailsrvr.com site.
- In the Enable SMTP over SSL or TLS dropdown, select SSL.
- Check the Use SMTP authentication checkbox.
- In the SMTP Username and Password fields, enter the full email address and the corresponding password for the email you are integrating.
- You can check if you have integrated successfully by clicking the SEND TEST EMAIL button. Once you have confirmed this, click DONE.
- Next, configure your email so that you can view incoming emails in the system. Under the Mail Accounts section, click the ADD button.
- Assign a name to the email account you are configuring in the Mail Account Name section.
- In the Username and Password sections, enter the email address and password of the email you are configuring.
- Go back to the https://help.emailsrvr.com/ page and scroll up to find the Inbound Servers table:
- Copy the IMAP Server (SSL) Server Address.
- Enter this address in the Mail Server Address field.
- Leave the Mail Server Protocol field as the default IMAP.
- Check use SSL checkbox.
- This should automatically populate the Mail Server Port field, but double check this to verify.
- Leave the Monitored folder as the default, INBOX.
- In the Trash folder section, select your trash folder. You also have the option to select your Sent folder to be shown in the system.
- Select which signature you would like to use in emails sent.
- Enter which email address you would like reply-to emails to be sent to in the Reply to Address field. This is the address that will populate the “To” field when a client or tutor replies to an email.
- Select an outgoing email server (such as the one we just set up) in the Outgoing SMTP Mail Server field.
- Click DONE.
