Q: Is there anything available for assessing Algebra for high school students?

A: Yes. LGL recommends having the student complete the DOMA Pre-Algebra test. If a student is struggling with Algebra, it is usually because of gaps in their Pre-Algebra knowledge. Using the DOMA Pre-Algebra assessment will identify those gaps. To test knowledge of Algebra 1 you can use the DOMA Algebra assessment.

Q: I made my son take grade 7 ADAM assessment so I can see from student's perspective in real-time. The "Help" feature on student's screen refers to a progress bar. It is nowhere to be seen on screen. There was no indication on assessment length which was frustrating. He said it was like an Energizer bunny, it kept going and going.
A: Yes, ADAM is long, especially for 6th and 7th graders as math learning is very broad at this grade level. The progress bar has been removed. Because ADAM is an adaptive test and therefore changes the questioning based on student ability, the progress tracker isn't very accurate. LGL recommends reading the test script to students ahead of time and breaking the assessment up (especially for elementary aged students). Please check out this LGL knowledge base article for information about the ADAM assessment and the typical time it takes to complete.
