Tutor Doctor Team of the Week Campaign Guide

Tutor Doctor Team of the Week Campaign Guide

Overview

The Tutor Doctor Team of the Week initiative is a low-cost, high-engagement community marketing campaign designed to increase brand awareness, build goodwill with local families, and keep social media engagement active during slower lead-generation periods.

Developed by Veronyk Zinn and her team in Sudbury, Ontario, this initiative was created to maintain community visibility throughout the summer months when traditional lead sources tend to slow down. The campaign recognizes local youth sports teams by providing refreshments and treats while celebrating their accomplishments on social media.

The primary objective is not direct lead generation. Instead, the campaign focuses on building relationships, creating positive brand impressions, and increasing engagement with local families who fit Tutor Doctor's target demographic.

Why the Campaign Works

This initiative leverages several proven marketing principles:

  1. Increases Facebook and social media engagement
  2. Builds positive community awareness
  3. Creates opportunities for organic sharing by parents and coaches
  4. Keeps Tutor Doctor visible throughout slower summer months
  5. Connects with families who are actively investing in their children's development
  6. Generates user-generated content and community goodwill
  7. Creates ongoing touchpoints leading into the back-to-school season
Veronyk’s team was inspired by the success of the annual Stock the Fridge campaign, which consistently generated high levels of engagement from parents and educators.

How the Campaign Works

Each week, local sports teams are nominated by the public through a Facebook post.
A winning team is selected through a live Facebook draw and receives:
  1. A case of sports drinks (Gatorade or similar)
  2. A box of treats (Donut holes/Timbits, cookies, donuts, popsicles, etc.)
  3. Recognition as Tutor Doctor's Team of the Week
  4. A team photo with a custom Tutor Doctor's Team of the Week sign
The team is then recognized through a Facebook post, which parents and coaches often share with their own networks, creating a ripple effect of increased visibility and engagement.

To run a similar campaign in your community, follow these steps:

Step 1: Share Your Weekly Nomination Post

Every Sunday, publish a Facebook post that invites community members to nomimate local sports teams, such as:
  1. Hockey teams
  2. Soccer teams
  3. Baseball teams

  5. Swimming teams
  6. Track and field teams
  7. Any youth or adult recreational sports teams
