Community Marketing: Events

Community Marketing: Events

Running a balanced mix of events is a vital element of a Tutor Doctor community marketing program. Events are the most effective ‘all-round’ marketing tool available to us and must be used consistently to achieve the following benefits:
  1. Take leads
  2. Book consultations
  3. Engage with high volumes of prospects
  4. Target key demographics
  5. Be ‘present’ in your community & really connect with people
  6. Position Tutor Doctor as a community partner
  7. Be highly visible & give people key information (such as our Academic Success Formula book)
  8. Recruit tutors & book tutor interviews
  9. Build your marketing database
  10. Grow your credibility as a high quality local business
An event is anything where we are able to show and explain our offering to people who are attending.

Events are many and varied and the key to an effective eventing program is to include a healthy mix of all types, from large ‘State Fairs’ and supermarket event space, to the smaller school fairs and ‘created’ events (e.g. a local café, gym, market). You must achieve a minimum of 1 event per week in addition to your 12 hours per week of other core marketing activities. The venues listed below are examples of where a Tutor Doctor event can be run, and include structured (bookable) event locations and locations for ‘created’ and ‘pop-up’ events:

Supermarkets, stores, gyms, parks, school fairs, soft-play centers, trampoline parks, shopping centers, sports clubs, town fairs/carnivals, sports/leisure centers, swimming pools, soccer centers, karate clubs, farmers markets, cafes, libraries, larger local businesses

Top Tips for Planning Your Events

  1. Bulk book your events - get 3 months worth set up at a time so that you can focus on executing
  2. Can’t find an event to attend during a particular week? Create your own!
  3. Make sure you have materials printed beforehand
  4. Make sure you have your event kit ready to go (replenish any promotional/giveaway items)
Key Points
  1. Always make sure you are visible and engaging. The key is to get out there and meet people. Use your 30 second ‘elevator pitch’ and tell people about your business.
  2. Don’t be scared to BOOK! Event leads are just like calls, prospects are in front of you and interested…book a consultation on the spot!
