Flyer Distribution Guidelines & Strategy
Delivering flyers is a sales process. We are trying to unearth ‘prospects’ hidden behind doors and curtains. Be in no doubt, those prospects are there. Prospects turn into leads. As with all sales activity, finding prospects and generating leads needs sustained effort. There is no other way. No sales professional has found a magic formula. Follow the steps below to ensure the best results from flyer distribution:
- Identify around 2000 homes in your territory which are likely to fit the demographics you are looking for
- Divide these into groups of between 300 and 400 homes, creating 6 groups
- Create a schedule where you will deliver to one of the groups each week
- Plan 4/5 messages/items which will be delivered e.g. bookmarks, post card, seasonal flyer, special offer etc. Many designs are available through our approved vendors
- Deliver message ‘one’ to every home – 300/400 homes each week for six weeks
- Begin the process again in week seven using message ‘two’
- Begin the process again in week 13 using message three…..and so on
- When all messages have been delivered start again at the beginning
- Ideally find someone you can trust and who wants to earn some extra cash working 3/5 hours per week
- Deliver flyers early evening – between 6pm and 9pm –VERY IMPORTANT!! This is the time when the whole family are home and the time when most Tutor Doctor leads come in. Also, deliveries which were done during the day – post, charity collection envelopes, flyers, community magazines etc. will have all been cleared away. Your message will appear all on its own at the right time – PERFECT
- Keep this process going – don’t expect immediate results. Your repeated messaging will begin to build trust and brand recognition. The best results (a lead rate of 1%) can be expected from the seventh message. Be happily surprised if on the first and second delivery schedule you generate one or two leads.
Flyer distribution works BUT it must be carefully planned and executed consistently and on a sustained basis.
