Stock the Fridge Campaign Guide

Stock the Fridge Campaign Guide

This Facebook campaign is a wonderful way to form real connections with schools and teachers. It was successfully implemented by franchisees Alison and Lacey from Tutor Doctor Emerald Coast. Just a little kindness and appreciation goes a long way and these two inventive ladies have really hit a winner with their Stock the Fridge campaign.

Although this campaign has the potential to generate leads and aid in tutor recruitment, the driver of it is simply doing something good. It encompasses the idea of ‘paying it forward’ and showing genuine appreciation for schools and teachers.

This helps to build your brand in your community, which can in turn result in leads.

The campaign is simple; franchisees stock the fridge in the teacher’s lounge/staff room with drinks and snacks for the staff to enjoy.

STEP 1: Create your Facebook Post

Create buzz by asking people on Facebook to vote for the school they would like to see win a fridge full of goodies. A sample post is as follows:

STOCK THE FRIDGE...

It is time to show our appreciation again to teachers and staff at our local schools! We would like to stock some more refrigerators but we don't know where to go. If you would like for us to come to your school in [enter your locations], please like this post and comment where you would like for us to visit. You can also share the post to get more people from your school to participate. We will go to the top two schools with the most likes, shares, and comments. We are stocking fridges the first week in May for Teacher Appreciation Week. Let's see those likes, shares, and comments!

#TopTip: Tag schools in your post! Simply type @ and then start typing the name of the page you want to tag. You can find their name by visiting their page – you will see a name like this:

  1. In order to avoid schools that are not in your region being nominated, make sure you include your territory in your post.
  2. Make sure you post this with a picture of a stocked fridge / all the goodies the school could win. You can find some photos to use in the Resource Library.
NOTE: in order for your boosted post to work, you must use a photo not a graphic.
  3. Post this to your Facebook page.
  4. Boost your post. Click here to find out how to boost your post.
    1. We recommend spending between $20-$30 / £10-£15 over 5-7 days for the campaign.
    2. Audience – if you have more than 50 Page Likes, choose People who like your Page and their friends

STEP 2: Manage your campaign

You are likely to see much higher engagement (likes, shares and comments) on this post than any other posts you have put on your Facebook page – this is a good thing and exactly what you want, but you need to make sure you manage it well.

Reply to and/or like all the comments on your post. Engaging with people further shows how much you care about schools and teachers. Social media is a fast moving environment, and people expect instant responses, so make sure you stay on top of this! Check out an example below:

You will need to keep track of the schools that are being voted for. You can set up a spreadsheet for this to track the votes that are coming in. To be efficient here, each time you reply to / like a comment that has voted for a school, enter their vote into your spreadsheet.

Finally, post an update about how long people have left to vote for their school – keep the excitement going to get as many people engaged as possible!

STEP 3: After your campaign

Once you have chosen a winner, contact the school administrator or principal to get permission to stock their fridge and arrange a suitable date to do so. This is a fantastic way to start building strong relationships with schools!
NOTE: some franchisees found that the schools were not as receptive about having their fridge’s stocked. This is why it is a good idea to call ahead and confirm that they are happy for you to do so.

Continue creating buzz and excitement by posting prior to the actual event  and/or showing you shopping for fridge goodies.

And finally… when the fridge has been successfully stocked. Alison and Lacey posted their stocked fridge with this lovely post:

“We had an ABSOLUTE BLAST visiting our friends and stocking fridges this week to show our appreciation to teachers and staff at the winning schools. It is an exhausting month for all of them and we wanted them to know we were thinking of them.”

End your campaign by showing a fully-stocked fridge and happy teachers in your final Facebook post:

#TopTip:  Put a sticker with the Tutor Doctor logo on water bottles and drinks!

AND REMEMBER… leave a sign on the fridge so teachers know who provided the treats and which districts / areas you cover. You can find this sign in the Resource Library. Also leave customer flyers, recruitment marketing flyers and business cards with the school when you stock their fridge. You can even create little ‘goody bags’ including some pens etc. for each of the teachers.
