How to Create a QR Code

What is a QR Code?

QR code is short for 'quick response' code. It's a square-shaped symbol that is scanned with a smartphone to learn more about a product or service. These encrypted squares can hold content, links, coupons, event details, and other information that users want to see.

QR Codes look like this:

Creating Your QR Code
The easiest way to create a QR code is through one of the many websites that create the QR code for you. QR Code Monkey is a popular and free QR code creation website.

Steps:
2. In the “Enter Content” tab, paste the URL of the website you would like to link to your QR code in the field "Your URL"

Be sure that the URL you use is the final URL to the exact webpage you want users of your QR code to land on. Navigate to the website page that you want users of your QR code to view and copy the URL from your address bar while visiting that page.

3. On the right hand side, under the QR code image, click "Create QR Code"

You can customize the look of your QR Code if you'd like. You can change colors and even add a logo in the center of the QR code.
After you add a logo, click the + on the "Add Logo Image" tab and click "Remove Background Behind Logo" to make your logo visible.
Just remember to click "Create QR Code" after each change to make sure the changes are reflected in your updated QR Code.

4. Download the file as a .png file. Once the file downloads to your computer, you can copy and paste the image into any document.
.png is a high resolution image file and will help prevent problems with scanning your QR code.

When placing your QR code on a flyer or other materials, be sure the code is a size and color that will allow it to be easily scanned by a user's cellphone.
When copy and pasting your QR code onto new materials, be sure to use the original QR code file that you downloaded from the QR code creation website. If you screenshot or snip your QR code from your original flyer or item, then the image can become pixelated and unreadable.

How is A QR Code Used?

On both iPhone and Android, open your camera app and point your camera at the QR code. Be sure you can see all 4 corners of the code on your screen. A banner will pop up on asking you if you want to open the link. Tap on the banner to open the link.
